Convenient At-Home Sleep Testing
Understanding Home Sleep Testing
A home sleep test is an easy, noninvasive method to screen for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and other sleep-related issues—all from the comfort of your own bed. The test uses a lightweight device worn overnight to monitor key sleep data, including breathing patterns, oxygen levels, heart rate, and more.
Home sleep testing tracks several important functions during sleep, including:
- Airflow
- Blood oxygen saturation
- Heart rate
- Chest and abdominal movement
- Time spent snoring
- Sleep position
Understanding Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common sleep disorder in which the airway becomes partially or completely blocked during sleep, causing repeated interruptions in breathing. These episodes can make you wake up gasping, choking, or snoring loudly—even if you don’t remember them.
OSA happens when the throat muscles relax too much during sleep, narrowing the airway and restricting airflow. Your brain briefly wakes the body to resume breathing, disrupting your natural sleep cycle—sometimes hundreds of times per night.
Who Can Benefit from a Home Sleep Test?
- Loud snoring
- Frequent daytime fatigue or drowsiness
- Trouble focusing or poor memory
- Mood swings, depression, or irritability
- Waking with a dry mouth or headaches
