The Basics of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common sleep disorder in which the airway becomes partially or completely blocked during sleep, leading to repeated interruptions in breathing. These episodes can cause gasping, choking, or loud snoring—even if you don’t remember waking up.
OSA happens when the throat muscles relax excessively, narrowing the airway and restricting airflow. The brain briefly rouses the body to restore breathing, disrupting your natural sleep cycle—sometimes hundreds of times per night.

Here’s what you can expect during the process:
- Prepare the Device: At home, secure a belt around your waist, attach a small finger clip, and place a sensor under your nose.
- Sleep Naturally: Wear the device overnight while it quietly tracks your breathing, oxygen levels, heart rate, and sleep patterns.
- Return for Analysis: Bring the monitor back to our office so our team can review your results and provide guidance.
