Comfortable Sleep Testing—Right From Home
What Is a Home Sleep Test?
A home sleep test is a simple, noninvasive way to screen for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and other sleep-related issues—all from the comfort of your own bed. The test involves wearing a lightweight device overnight that records vital sleep data, such as your breathing patterns, oxygen levels, heart rate, and more.
Home sleep testing measures a variety of functions while you sleep, including:
- Airflow
- Blood oxygen saturation
- Heart rate
- Chest and abdominal movement
- Time spent snoring
- Sleep position
What Is Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)?
OSA is a common sleep disorder where the airway becomes partially or completely blocked during sleep, leading to repeated interruptions in breathing. These episodes often cause you to wake up gasping, choking, or snoring loudly—even if you don’t remember it happening.
OSA occurs when throat muscles relax too much during sleep, narrowing the airway and cutting off airflow. In response, your brain briefly wakes the body to restore breathing, disrupting your natural sleep cycle—sometimes hundreds of times a night
Who Should Consider a Home Sleep Test?
- Loud snoring
- Frequent daytime fatigue or drowsiness
- Trouble focusing or poor memory
- Mood swings, depression, or irritability
- Waking with a dry mouth or headaches
What to Expect During Home Sleep Testing
At Luxe Dental Arts, we make the process easy and stress-free. You'll receive a compact, userfriendly sleep monitor along with step-by-step instructions.
Here’s how it works:
- Set-Up at Home: Before bed, simply wrap the belt around your midsection, place a clip on your finger, and position a small sensor beneath your nose.
- Sleep Normally: The device silently collects data as you sleep.
- Return the Device: The next day, you bring the monitor back to our office for analysis.
